About Sarah

After studying 3D design at De Montfort University, Sarah went on to work as a modelmaker for the media industry and then as a teacher throughout the country. Sarah settled on Mersea Island in 2015, where she feels at home with the coastline and the quiet, restorative serenity she experiences with the Blackwater Estuary and the rich tapestry of local flora and fauna. Sarah practices in both ceramics and textiles. Her pottery highlights her 3D skill through sculpture, where she creates animal sculptures through her teaching practice and for commissions. Sarah’s textiles express the tranquillity of the coastline, using a variety of dyeing and printing techniques on silks and plant-based fabrics. She stitches detail by hand and uses machine embroidery to highlight the colours and textures of the shore and its tidal edges, aiming to capture the subtle undulations and fleeting details of this ever-changing place. Sarah is available to work to commission for her sculpture, hand-built pottery and textiles. Sarah is a new member of the Mersea Art Collective and will be exhibiting with them in exhibitions as well as opening her studio for visitors during the Mersea Island Art trail.

Hand Crafted Stoneware & Textiles

Hand crafted stoneware frames that Sarah made to house some wet felting work, inspired by the colours of the early warm Spring we had this year(2025) and the high bright tides.
